The Conco Companies provide a wide range of concrete services including concrete reinforcement for all of your rebar fabrication and installation needs. By owning and operating two large rebar fabrication facilities in California and Washington, we have the capacity to cost-effectively serve our customers’ needs saving them both time and money. Also Conco’s highly skilled crews are trained on the specialized tools used to fabricate, assemble, and install the rebar.
One example of a current job that we are providing a wide range of concrete services for including reinforcement is 970 Denny Way in the South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. Along with the 4,900 cubic yards of concrete we poured to form the 15,300 square foot mat foundation, we also provided the required 1.3 million pounds of rebar. Another recent project that took advantage of Conco Reinforcing’s services was a parking structure for the new Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. Our crews constructed two levels below grade, one level at grade and two levels above grade to total the approximately 397,359 square feet parking structure. To complete the project, we supplied 4.2 million pounds of reinforcing steel as well as 17,000 cubic yards of concrete and 1,200 cubic yards of shotcrete. The VA Mental Health and Research Center that is currently under construction in Seattle is a prime example of the benefit of using Conco’s full range of concrete services. On this particular project our job duties included concrete pumping, formwork, place and finish and shotcrete services on the 203,000 square foot structure as well as supplying and installing the reinforcement. When you take advantage of Conco’s unique ability to supply rebar and formwork on your next project, it eliminates the need for coordination between different suppliers. It also helps to ensure you meet timelines and stay on budget. Conco’s mission is to be the best supplier of concrete services in the Western United States and to bring expertise, experience and quality to each project. We continue to upgrade and expand facilities to better serve the growing market for public works projects, commercial, parking structures, educational, and other construction development. We serve California, Washington State, Oregon, Colorado and Nevada.

To counteract the inherent brittleness of concrete and the relatively low tensile strength and ductility, concrete is reinforced with rebar (steel reinforced bars). Without reinforcement, concrete has the tendency to crack or break when under high pressure conditions and shear stresses such as those caused by wind, earthquakes and other forces.
Reinforcement also prevents excessive cracking that is a result of concrete shrinkage and temperature changes. In addition the Portland Cement Association (PCA) states that, “Lateral reinforcement (stirrups, ties and hoops) are used to provide resistance to principal tensile stresses resulting from shear. They also explain its use “in highly stressed areas of compression zones of columns beams and joints provide confinement,” which is especially important in structures that are located in seismic hot spots. To achieve the maximum performance required on specific construction projects, it usually only takes a relatively low percentage of rebar. Industry standards state that a typical concrete beam requires about 1% of rebar to be added to the concrete. For a column, it can take about 6% of rebar to achieve the required performance. Furthermore, since steel is much more costly than concrete, rebar is an economical solution for providing strength, ductility, and durability to a structure. Reinforced concrete products can be precast and cast-in-place, and are used to construct slabs, foundations, walls, columns, beams and more. In fact many of today’s concrete structures would not have been possible without reinforced concrete. At The Conco Companies, we supply the industry with precision-engineered rebar that is fabricated in our state-of-the-art facilities. Using the latest technologies and outfitted with modern shear lines, benders and post-tension cable manufacturing equipment, we can meet the most exacting specifications. Our highly skilled workers are trained on up-to-date technologies that make use of building informational modeling (BIM) and our advanced field fabrication tools ensure a high-quality installation job. Source: unionstationindenver.com/news-events/events/ LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) prestigious rating system which certifies that a building, home, or community meets the highest standards of environmental sustainability. The certification, founded in 1998 and is now acknowledged as a worldwide standard, has had a major impact on sustainable design standards. In fact, over 1.85 million sqft becomes LEED certified each day.
What is LEED Certification? LEED is essentially rating system created to benchmark the “green” performance of a building. Designed to be a practical framework for accomplishing green building design and construction, LEED focuses on performance in five core tenets:
How and When to use LEED? Contrary to popular belief, the LEED rating system is not just for commercial buildings. It is also appropriate for implementing sustainable solutions in neighborhoods, community projects, and even residential homes. Additionally, the core tenets of the LEED certification can be applied to projects at all points of the development process—from initial designs and renovations to simple improvements. What are the benefits of LEED certification? Certifying a home or building using the LEED system offers sizeable financial, environmental and health benefits for both the building owners and the planet.
